This year, Children’s Dental Health Month is brought to you by the American Dental Association. Simply put, the goal is to spread awareness on the importance of caring for growing smiles to kids, parents, teachers, and other caregivers. If you’d like to celebrate with your family, then consider adding these oral hygiene products into the mix to make dental care fun and effective!

1. BrushyBall

Does your child need a little guidance on how to brush properly? Cue BrushyBall! This cute, animated yellow face has an adorable voice that walks them through a follow-the-leader game. Before you know it, your child will be looking forward to brushing their teeth (effectively too!).

2. GumChucks

Let’s face it; traditional floss can be quite boring. However, it’s an essential step in any solid oral hygiene regimen since it removes food particles and plaque from between their teeth and along their gumline. The good news is that GumChucks make flossing fun! In addition to the cute characters and trading cards, they make flossing significantly easier for your little one.

3. The Waterpik Water Flosser for Kids

Does your child have braces? If so, they might have a hard time maneuvering the strand of floss around each bracket and wire. That’s where a water flosser comes in! While it won’t replace flossing entirely, it can make removing debris significantly easier. Note: if it’s a bit messy at first, encourage them to use it in the shower so the water doesn’t go flying all over their mirror and sink.

4. Fun Flavored Toothpaste

The most popular flavors for toothpaste are minty (like spearmint and peppermint), but those certainly aren’t the only ones. Even a small change like opting for bubble gum-flavored toothpaste can help make the task of brushing more fun! Just make sure to talk to their dentist first to make sure it’s effective too.

5. A Brand-New Toothbrush (Their Choice!)

The American Dental Association recommends changing toothbrushes every three or four months. If it’s been longer than that, then it’s time to give your child a new one. Since getting them involved can help build confidence and make them look forward to brushing, let them pick one the next time you’re at the store!
